Indemnity Dental Insurance

American Dental Insurance Knowledge Base

If one out three Americans have no dental insurance, what are we going to do to change this situation? Yes, folks, this includes Republicans and Conservatives going without dental insurance. It means that 100 million out of 300 million Americans have no dental insurance, according to the American Dental Association. None of the first four answers have addressed the problem that one out of three Americans can't AFFORD dental insurance of any kind. This is the problem; Americans are unconscious when it comes to questions like this. They don't get it: we're in big, big trouble here, folks.
No Dental Insurance And Native American? what is required when u have on dental insurance, your native american, and u live outside of the rez? and u can't afford health insurance and u make least then 18000 a year
Should i take the crown off to check for infection? or wait it out until January for insurance purposes? I had major work done on tooth #26 a few months back whilei was 8.5 months pregnant. My tooth (which was shaved down and crown applied 2.5 years ago) got infected and devloped anabscess. Had an incision and drain as well. VERY painful!! the root canal was finally done (took two weeks and done trhough the crown) and now its been about 2.5 months. im stillhaving foul odour coming from this tooth when i press on the gum just above that tooth. My american dental insurance ran out until january. I used it all up but i still have coverage in canada. I saw my dentist here in canada and he took xrays. he saw something very small but nothing going into the gums or bone. I hve no pain due to the root canal but the tooth itself is still sensitive from all the trauma. I dont feel comfortable leaving this crown on but im not covered for another crown for 3 more years (insurance wont cover for crown if under 5 years old.work was done in canada ) However, if i wait until January, my dental insurance in the states wil cover everything and give me a new crown b/c i had the crown done in canada. What should i do? Should i wait until January to get everything done or have the crown removed now, check for infection and put a temporary crown in? It will cost me about $210.00. Im afraid that if i wait until jan. another infection may result and i dont want to end up with anohter abscess. The dentis here in canada assured me there is no severe infection yet and he doenst advise having th tooth pulled out. He says i can wait but my instincts say otherwise. He said the best thing to do is remove the crown, look underneath and put a new crown but no coverage ($900). Other choice is to put a temp but iknow that wont last long. Should i wait until January? or should i go ahead for $210.00 take it off, check, and put a temporary? Ive had temps put in before and they fall out really easy.
Are 100% of Americans insured with medical/dental insurance? Bet not and do they pay their medical bills? NOOOOOOOOO!!! DO NOT BLAME THE ENTIRE COST TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
I am an American visiting England and I need emergency dental care. What do I do? I don't have any medical insurance and don't qualify for their NHS, but I lost a tooth and am panicked. Do I just fork over the money and hope someone will help me?
Am I the only one who thinks Dental prosedures are too expensive? I just got back from my dentist, I need two root canals and two crowns. I have dental insurance but its still going to cost me $1850.00. 2 teeth that much? I know I am lucky to have insurance but still with insurance its too high. This is a good reason American Middle Class never get ahead, we can't afford the heath and dental care. Oops, sorry Bryan. I'm usually a good SPeller but I guess I was too annoyed to use spell check. ;) One of you said "Dentist have to eat too" I agree but my dentist lives in the best neighborhood in our town in a HUGE house, so not like he is starving. lol The woman that said you have to take care of your teeth, your are implying that I didn't. I have been going to the dentist every 6 months my whole life. My dentist told me one of the problems with baby boomers are the filings they used on us are very hard on the teeth. I do brush, floss and take care of my dental hygiene.
What is the best kind of dental care facility to go to, local or a chain? I need some dental work done and I'm looking for quality but not to spend an exorbitant amount of money. Does it make a difference if you go to a local dentist or one of those bigger multi-dentist places like American Dental Center? Do they have better equipment and/or experience? I figured they would be more expensive but I don't know and I can't find any information about this. I have individual dental insurance, but I might need a lot of work done that I've put off and I don't want to end up paying a lot out of my pocket.
can the american dental association? i hear rumors on the internet about the ada and i don't know if it this is true, but i would like to know if someone can tell me if its true or not..but can ada help people who do not have any money/ and no insurance help fix their teeth, no matter what the problem are?
I am American visiting England and need emergency dental care. What do I do? I haven't any medical insurance and also don't qualify for their NHS. Do I just fork over the money and have someone fix my tooth that came out or is there some other alternative?
I am an American visiting England and need emergency dental care. What can I do? I don't have any medical insurance and don't qualify for their NHS. Do I just fork over some money and hope someone will help me? I have lost a tooth and I'm pretty panicked. I don't even know how to categorize this question correctly.
if 2 million american kids have no health insurance or not enough, what would Republicans want done about it? compare that with what Democrats would want done about it? Which is the right thing to do and why? I am talking about good insurance so that good preventative health care can happen, including dental and vision and regular routine doctor visits etc..
I am thinking of traveling to Egypt to stay in Cairo and have dental and medical treatment is this a good idea? I am American, dont have health insurance, and I need some much needed medical tests and dental work,is going to EGYPT a wise idea for low cost care,in a very good hospital in Cairo? My hubbies family live in Cairo and ASSUIT
Why do people think the insurance companies are lying when they say the Baucus health care bill will raise? the cost of health insurance for Americans? The Baucus bill requires all future health insurance policies to include: Cover all preexisting conditions. No life time cap on claims. All doctors office visits. Dental coverage on all policies. All prescriptions included. All mental health issues. How can Liberals gloss over the fact that that's going to make health insurance more expensive? Just saying the insurance companies make too much money already is not going to change reality.
Where can I get free or low cost dental care in San Sebastian, Spain, or anywhere near by? ? I am American with no insurance. In Holland you can get treated by students at the dental college for a low, flat fee. Anything like that in Spain or South France?
Does anyone have full health, dental and vision insurance that costs close to McCain's $2500 tax credit? My individual insurance costs around $7000 a year. I expect it to go up. I have friends that pay more on individual plans just for medical. If McCain's plan were in effect many businesses would no longer be allowed to deduct the costs of the health-care they provide and so would drop them. Anyone that had just about any pre-existing condition would not be able to purchase any reasonable insurance plan. McCain could never find a carrier himself. There are probably at least 50 million "baby-boomers that would not be able to afford insurance because just about everyone over 55 has something that could be called a pre-existing condition. So, do you think there is affordable insurance available for most Americans based on your experience? I guess a lot of you do not know what FULL health insurance even is...It includes everything Dental $2500 a year limit, medical with 20% max copay...but free annual exam. and vision - a ncomplete pair of glasses every other year and exam and a pair of lenses on the off year. No way would anyone get dental for $200 a month. Get real. Note: I have Union insurance - it is similar to what our lawmakers get. We negotiate the cost of our insurance and get better deals than a single person without a group rate. Like I said I know what i would have to pay to continue my insurance, COBRA, but I don't know if I could BUY it (when or if) Ieft my job. It sounds like most of you do not have comprehensive insurance. I have NO preconditions. I do not even bother to charge my insurance for my $8 a month thyroid pills...I just stated what my full boat insurance costs. It is probably more now...my insurance comes out of my wages which collects more than we need a month so we have a 12 month buffer in case work gets slow.
Racism in Orange County in the Dental Practices? I’d visit a dental office located in Laguna Niguel www.aestheticdentaldesigns.net called the office and explained to the office personal that I was just released from the Mission Hospital ER and I was suffering from servere tooth pain and was told that I needed a root canal from the ER Physician. I asked the receptionist over the phone if the dentist specialized in root canals and the office gal put me on hold, came back to the phone and stated yes that they specialized treating patients with root canals, she went on to say, if this is an emergency that I can be seen the same day. When I arrived to the Dental office, the appearance of the office looked very exotic with a fancy construction build out something that reminded of a Star Trek movie. I’d notice the Dentist running around in the hall way making copies of documents while I was being entertained by his staff. I was called into a room 20 minutes from waiting in the lobby for X-rays. The technician asked where was I experiencing the most pain and she took X-rays of just three teeth and not the full mouth. Within 35 minutes, the second gal who was the receptionist walked into the room. Before any treatments or X-ray explanations she begins a sentence with “She did not know what I could afford?” Apprehensively , she begin explaining the findings of the X-ray taken of the three teeth, however I could not understand what she was trying to convey because of her lack of experience reading X-rays. After not understanding the receptionist I’d demanded to speak to the dentist. The dentist finally walked into the room 25 minutes later with a nasty deposition and handed me a flyer of an African American boy who died of rotten teeth. I begin asking questions about the findings of the X-rays, and the dentist responded with a nasty smirk; his actions gave an impression as if he didn’t want to treat, or touch an African American. He went on to explain the X-rays, and suggested that I should seek another dentist for general treatments and recommended that I should see a dentist that specialized in root canals. I’d asked the dentist for a prescription for pain the dentist in return begins to ask allot of unusual questions as if I was a street person who was a drug user. He hesitated to write the prescriptions and stated that he doesn’t get involved with giving patient prescriptions to medications. He continued to push the flyer in my face of the African American boy who died of rotten teeth because his mother could not afford dental insurance. The dentist went on to say that I would need a crown after the root canal and can be seen by any dentist! I begin asking the dentist about his fees concerning crowns, the dentist assumed because I was African American that I could not afford his dental services and printed an extra nominal fee of $2,200 per crown. His office charged me a consulting fee, close to $200 bucks for No treatment and phony Xrays.
Does anyone know any good dentists that offer free consultations and estimates in NW San Antonio? I am looking to get a set of upper dentures to replace several missing teeth and some type of replacement for a lower missing tooth. However, most dentists automatically want to charge a $75 fee for X-rays when all I want is an explanation of options and an estimate on what it would cost. Certainly X-rays aren't required for that. Like most Americans I don't have dental insurance and even if I did most coverages don't cover cosmetic work.
New Age Dental's Dr. Richie Lerias aka Mommy Dearest? Has anyone ever had a Dentist go off like Joan Crawford from Mommy Dearest? I have been going to Skokie New Age Dental for castings and molds for a complete set of dentures. I've ask questions such as what Dental Lab do you use and what are the steps for extractions? Each time the dentist Dr. Richie Lerias has been offended and given me answers such as."Why are you asking?", "I'm a professional and I use a professional Lab." "I extract teeth professionally." "Don't be a problem." My dentures and extractions will cost over $3,000.00 and I will have to live with the dentures for at least ten years. As well as it's my mouth and money so I feel I should be able to ask all the questions I want and they should be answered with a smile. Well when the final upper denture were made I noticed black spots and a hair had been cured onto the surface of some of the teeth! When I questioned these things Dr. Richie Lerias told me he would give me the address of the dental lab and I could take the denture there and ask them to fix it. I was shocked. Now he'll tell me the name of the Dental Lab and wants me to solve this issue! I said to Dr. Richie Lerias, "I'm paying over $3,000.00 and you want me to solve this problem?" Dr. Richie Lerias responds, "The lab will charge me if they have to replace a tooth and I'm not paying for that." "You can hardly see the hair anyway." I told him these are not $10.99 dentures and for the money I'm paying I want the dentures as perfect as possible. If you buy a new car at a new car price, you don't want dents and dings on the frame do you? Well his response was to show me what a male Joan Crawford would look like. His eyes glazed over. He ripped off his protective lab cover, roughly peeled off his gloves, slammed the dentures on the counter and yelled "I will not have you criticize my work! I'll keep these teeth and refund your money!" At that point I'm all for it. I don't want Mommy Dearest anywhere near my mouth. He might use a wire hanger for the extractions! I rush off to the restroom (stress makes me need to go) and when I came out of the restroom, Dr. Richie Lerias was standing there with the Dental Assistant and the receptionist Monica to confront me Again and remind me that HE WILL NOT HAVE HIS WORK CRITICIZED!! Stay away from Dr. Richie Lerias at SKOKIE NEW AGE DENTAL, MORTON GROVE NEW AGE DENTAL and PALENTINE NEW AGE DENTAL unless you want teeth with hair and want to get in trouble with Mommy Dearest aka Dr. Richie Lerias. I'm giving the Managing partners a day to respond to my complaints, and then I'm reporting this to the American Dental Association, the Illinoiss Dental Association, The Better Business Bureau and Aetna Insurance my insurance company. Has anyone else ever experienced this type of situation and what did you do? If this happened to you, what would you do?
Why don't Americans without health insurance just marry Canadian or European women? This is an easy solution to the healthcare crisis. For example, I am married to a Belgian woman. This gives me access to Belgium's socialized healthcare system. It's a good system; I fly there every year for a checkup and dental work and blood tests and all that kind of stuff. I had a shoulder operation that would have cost me a $5,000 copay on my American insurance for only $350 Euros in Belgium, and I went on a wine tour of southern Wallonia/Luxembourg afterwards, so it was also a vacation. Including airfare, all this only cost me $4,700, which means I actually came out $300 AHEAD compared to how the American healthcare system wanted to screw me. But anyway, this seems like an easy solution. If you need healthcare, just marry a European or a Canadian or someone from a country with national health coverage. In most cases, you can start getting benefits within a year of marriage. It's pretty awesome. Why don't more Americans do this, instead of whining so much and pushing for socialism? Just marry Europeans, dummies!
My work takes my benefits out after tax, is that legal? I recently signed up for medical/dental insurance through work. My benefits are taken out AFTER taxes. I contacted the benefits department and they say its because the IRS doesn't recognize domestic partners as dependents. My parnter had me on his benefits at American Airlines and he had the benefits taken out pre tax, so is FedEx breaking the law or are am I looking at Sexual Discrimination?
If a 50 year old american wants a good comprehensive health insurance policy, how much will it cost? If he wants a plan for himself and his family. Father age 50 in good health Mother age 50 in good health Son age 20 in good health The coverage they want must pretty much cover anything they want medically from doc visits to exams, to hospital stays, surgery fees, any dental work and cleaning, etc..etc.. at 80%. In other words the plan must pay 80% of anything its used for and the copay is 20% up until the family spends a maximum out of pocket per year of $1,000. Once the copay reaches $1,000 coverage is 100%. The lifetime max payment per insured is $1,000,000. So...does anyone know or have a guess as to how much this man will have to pay to buy this type of insurance? someone told me the premium per year could be like $18,000 or more. They are kidding....right? How much would a someone in Britain pay in premiums to have similar coverage?
Is there any affordable insurance plans I can get in NJ( South NJ )? Particularly Dental Insurance. I am 20,a Part-time worker who also goes to college full time. I am not covered by my parents nor have I ever had insurance. I am one of the many Americans who do not recieve proper health care due to low income however I do need to get Dental Insurance, and Health Insurance. Is there any reasonable companies to look into?
What does the average American make of the British NHS? Health care is paid from taxes at roughly £1,980(roughly $3000) per person per year (this doesn't include taxes paid by businesses so actually contribution is lower). Some people chose private health insurance with BUPA being the most popular and some jobs will provide private health care as a bonus. All health care is free apart from prescriptions for adults, dental work for adults & optical work for adults. Would you like to see this sort of system? Do you think it's fair? How similar is this to Obama's healthcare plan?
Has anyone had dental implants done in Mexico, close to Tijuana? I am interested in having dental implants. They are not covered by insurance and are very costly. I have heard of an american dentist that does the total implant procedure in one visit right over the border in S. California. Has anyone had implants done in Mexico and if so, did you experience any problems. Would you do it again or would you pay the higher cost and have it done in America.
Liberals please answer the following questions? 1. Do you believe that the government should pay for health insurance for every american? 2. Do you believe that the government should pay for dental insurance? 3. Do you believe that the government should pay for everyone's college? 4. If a person wants to work, and does not have a vehicle do you believe that the government should pay for transportation to work? 5. If a person wants to work, and does not have child care do you believe that the government should pay for child care? 6. If a person wants to work and does not have money to pay for an apartment do you believe the government should pay for a place for them to live? 7. If you answered yes to these, who will pay for this?
health insurance questions? im looking to start getting health insurance. American Health Benefits called today and said 129 a month includes me and my boyfriend, health, dental, optical, 5,000 accidental, and a few other things. it sounds like a good deal, but have no idea about health insurance. any tips or advice greatly appreciated. thank you
Anyone ever heard of American Income Partners? I was offered this cause I was once in a Union. They said that this is insurance for Union employees. But I'm trying to find them on the net and I can't find anything except for Life Insurance. I was told by the rep that it was for health and dental along with health. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I'm payin IN TOTAL $205 for my health insurance a month, whats so bad about this? I am self employed and 45 and this is my TOTAL BILL. This is major medical only but does cover up to 4 physicals a year if I wanted them.....The deductable is 6K but big deal. 6 K isn't going to hurt me if I had a surgery that cost 200k! This is through American Republic Insurance...they are great INS too...My parents had them and they covered my DADs $1 million dollars worth of surgerys over a 10 year period...Covered it all....So, who can't afford $200 bucks a month? Sure you can add on other features like long term care or co-op or dental but that is not needed most the time anyway.....WELL?
How much will it cost for an American to get wisdom teeth taken out in Canada? I live in a western suburb of Chicago. Two years ago I had to have a wisdom tooth taken out because it was falling apart. It cost me $800. The dental surgeon wanted to do the rest but he said the remaining 3 would cost about $2500 two of which are impacted and will eventually cause problems with my jaw and surrounding teeth if left alone. I decided to put it off because I didn't have the money and I'm not fond of debt. Neither my health insurance nor my dental insurance covers dental surgery which wisdom teeth extraction is considered to be (whether impacted or not). I'm now considering taking a vacation and going to Canada to have them taken out. I am curious to hear from anyone who has had them done in Canada or a Canadian dental surgeon on how much it would cost and whether or not it would be advisable. I have X-rays taken before the one tooth was pulled, if that helps.
Confused about the whole "American immigration bias" crap? Maybe this will help...long,but worth reading? You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California. Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted. Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table". Ready? Now pay attention... Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00. Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00. Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00. Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00. Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00. Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00. Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc. Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month. Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work. Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family. Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay. Do you get it now? This is simplified, but real.
Military providing free healthcare But does that job include protecting foreigners at the expense of American BROWNSVILLE, Texas—The Air National Guard at Ellington Field stands ready to protect our borders both on land and at sea. Part of that duty includes providing free medical care to everyone. That is evident at a school in Brownsville where soldiers along with our state’s health and human services department help those in need. “We’re protecting our people and that’s our job,” said Master Sgt. Marcus Falleaf who is with the Air National Guard. But does that job include protecting foreigners at the expense of American taxpayers? That’s what some want to know. Some claim that more than 5,000 people have received medical care at the Brownsville facility in three days. The military doesn’t know how many people are getting served because they don’t require documentation and don't ask questions. One woman who spoke to 11 News said she lives in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. It's a city across the border form Brownsville. She said that she received a health screening, including blood work and a physical exam. It was all free. In fact, anyone who comes to the facility can get vision checks, dental and hearing work, even free medications. why we’re giving foreigners free medical care when an estimated 40 million Americans struggle along without health insurance.” http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou080807_jj_operation_lone_star_houston.242a2114.html

Can someone from Canada adopt me so I can get free health insurance? I just watched Michael Moore's sicko video and am wondering do you get free dental over there too? Right about now it sucks to be an american I have 2 young children and cannot afford insurance and am not eligible for state coverage of any kind. That movie seriously makes me want to live in another country what did you think when you saw it?
Health insurance in USA is a complete rip off, scrap it and lets get competitive tendering in for taxpayers to? I noticed my old friends in the USA are having a big debate about healthcare, getting a better service for all and at a better price. From some press reports I have read Some of you do not like to look a gift horse in the mouth? maybe you work for insurance companies I suspect! This is why I KNOW that Americans are being scammed and ripped off by the Government, Health insurance and the hospitals. I am from Uk but spent 7 years there in San Diego, Houston and Phoenix and I needed treatment 3 times for various things. On all 3 occasions I was charged a small fortune ($2000) for menial medical work, (a stitch in my lip and check pulse, most of the time I spent waiting to be seen, (hours). When I told them I had no medical insurance they reduced it to $300. Case 2 Blood tests ($940) but if I paid cash $130, Sharps Hospital San diego. Houston local doctors remove a boil on my back $260 but for cash $45. Dentists San diego all treatment less than half price just for having a $50 family discount ticket.(not insurance). I saved thousands off that ticket. Wife had a baby, $10,000, but we had no insurance so we paid $250, (some local tax on tobacco and booze paid the rest. I have heard some say health care in USA is far superior to the free one we have here in uk, WELL IT FRANKLY IS NOT, you have lawsuits over there in USA that prove that healthcare in UK is just as good as USA and its almost free here. True, non urgent things may require an appointment a few weeks forward but anything urgent is dealt with quickly. The ambulance service arrive within minutes of being called and they don't carry invoices or calculators for $2000 taxi ride to hospital! I think you should back your president, get almost free healthcare for all, get better pricing and everyone who works pays a little extra tax just as we do here in Europe, we call it National Insurance contributions, its about 5% of your capped earnings/wages, this covers not only health care but also sickness benefits, retirement pension, dental, optical, unemployment / disability benefit, child and workers tax credits Nobody is ever excluded and there is no CoPay either, They fix you no questions asked, a very comforting thought. Whoever heard of an insurance policy where you go to hospital and have to pay half the f***** bill as well? In the American System the employer pays insurance the employees pay too and then there is copay fees to pay too? who is getting all this money? where the heck is it going? at the prices they charge there should be no copay. For you die hards there is BUPA health insurance that UK has too but that is cheap, a fraction of the USA cost. OK Americans let me know your thoughts do you want an almost free healthcare for all in the USA, similar to UK? if you don't prove to me why your rip off system is better? your system benefits the rich and the scammer hospitals and insurance companies. SUPPORT YOUR PRESIDENT 1, I have seen the good/bad of both systems, pity your USA system leaves tens of millions of people without health care. 2People do work hard there but the pay is peanuts low income can't afford healthcare. 3 Thats not my point (off topic) 4 Your taxes will not be raised, it will be cheaper as you won't be paying rip off prices to health insurance. 5Medicare is not the quality of Uk Health care and you know it. so don't compare. 6Just go to sharp hospitals in San diego and ask for their form for people with no insurance a look at the price difference, you who pay health insurance are feeding the suckers on the vine that always will ant more and more.. 7Your health is the governments business as its costing the USA taxpayer $billions anyway in medicare etc. 8 UK health care is superior to USA fools fail to learn from forefathers. 9 Brainwash, ? sounds like health insurance and hospital companies paying millions to politicians, that is brainwashing. but you gys just suck it all up here is what a working person pays in the UK who earns 30k per year uk pounds Employer's NI 220.60 ($352.96) Employee's NI189.58 ($303.32 Employee Tax330.84 ($529.34) Total All Tax 741.02 Total Net Income1,752.75 ($2804.40) So for $303.00 per month he is covered for all health costs entirely as well as dental, optical. This also covers retirement Pension currently 65 pounds per week ($104), sickness benefit, unemployment benefit, working tax credit and child tax credit, disability benefit. Our NHS get huge discounts off the drug companies and there is an NHS low cost rate for all Health service professionals, this is why health costs are so much cheaper here. Because USA system is dissected based on thousands of insurance company claims it is just a mire of administration and opportunities for these hospitals to overcharge. Why do you think drugs and medical care are so much cheaper elsewhere in the world? your politicians take bribes from these What happens there does affect me as I am returning to live there permanently next year. You are being ripped off, if you can't see that then that is your problem, your whole health system is corrupt and Politicians are paid by big health care companies, to sweep the corruption under the carpet! Same thing with your banking system America is known for its corrupt politicians and industry leaders. Your comments and attitude remind me of the smoking lobby that wanted to stop the banning of smoking in public places (you are very selfish in your thinking) and you are bot Peripheral in your thinking. (there is always a better way to do something.
Health insurance in USA is a complete rip off, scrap it and lets get competitive pricing for national service? SUPPORT YOUR PRESIDENT Arctic here is what a working person pays in the UK who earns 30k per year uk pounds Employer's NI 220.60 ($352.96) Employee's NI189.58 ($303.32 Employee Tax330.84 ($529.34) Total All Tax 741.02 Total Net Income1,752.75 ($2804.40) So for $303.00 per month he is covered for all health costs entirely as well as dental, optical. Why do you think drugs and medical care are so much cheaper elsewhere in the world? your politicians take bribes from these
Don't we ALL have to admit that life in America is pretty good...if not where? I can go to my sink and poor clean drinkable water 24/7, I'm better off then 71% of the worlds population. I like 84% of American have full health Insurance & dental, 16% don't BUT that numer keeps getting smaller. I can eat anything I want, I can go to any resturant I want, I can drive (within reason) any car I want. I can go any place in the world I want anytime. I have over 30 pairs of shoes, probably 50 pairs of pants. I own my own home with 5 arces..I even have a John Deere Tractor and a 1/2 arce fishing pond. I have a wonderful, beauitful wife that I love more than life and 3 wonderful kids I'm very proud of. Life and my world is far from perfect but it's better than 99.9999% of all mankind experienced. I am thankful to live in America. Not bad for a guy that lived in the back seat of a '70 Nova for 3 years...I've been on my own since I was 15..I felt blessed I had a car to sleep in and not outside. I've never owed any man a dime. I never had time to complain. Your thoughts? BTW...if any has a question...just ask and I'll answer you That's right Rev.......THE BEST!!!! Beatice....How do you know so much about me...my wife just read what you wrote and laughed out loud...thanks for the giggles
How would closing the border with Mexico affect the U.S. economy? I've heard it said that without illegal aliens to do our drudge work, we'd have to pay legal citizens a lot more money to do the same work, we'd have to give them health insurance and dental and medical and our economy would sour without illegal aliens. Remember it's not the illegal aliens that are the problem, it's the Americans who are using their cheap services that are the problems here.
My American friends? How much do you pay for a decent health insurance scheme? How much do you pay for a really good health insurance scheme including dental(per month)? Do employers offer you this as a perk of the job?
So why are the Big Health insurers against Canadian style Health insurance? The following story was posted in AP News today. My question is if insurers don't want an Obama Healthcare System that is socialized and a far cry from the "Best medical system in the world", then why are insurers content to send the insured overseas for "knee-replacements" and "heart by-pass" operations? I'm for Obama's plan and KEEPING AMERICAN JOBS HERE !!! (i.e. doctors, nurses and support staff). Screw the insurance companies as they have us for so long ! Insurers aim to save from overseas medical tourism Costa Rican Dr. Luis Obando prepares to perform a root canal on Bill Jones, of Dallas, Texas, at Meza Dental Care in San Jose, Costa Rica. Jones said he elected to have the surgery in Costa Rica because he was able to save substantially compared to what he would have had to pay in the USA. Enlarge image Enlarge By Kent Gilbert, AP Costa Rican Dr. COSTS, SAVINGS Medical tourism trips offer steep savings, but they don't pack enough financial might to play a key role in President Obama's push to lower U.S. health care costs. Medical travel cost U.S. health care providers about $5.1 billion in business in 2007, according to estimates by Paul Keckley, executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. While significant, that amounts to less than 1% of the $2.36 trillion spent on health care in the United States that year. Medical tourism can yield savings of as much as 80% on some procedures compared to care in the United States. But traveling isn't for everyone and these trips are generally not an option for emergencies. A patient's willingness to travel for non-emergency care often depends on the savings at stake. With a low deductible and no incentives from an insurer or employer to travel, a patient may have little motivation to make a trip. Any result from the Washington reform push is unlikely to affect medical tourism, Keckley said, because it won't lower costs enough to erase price gaps with foreign care providers. By Tom Murphy, The Associated Press Elizabeth Kunz left her dentist's office this spring with a mouth full of problems and no way to pay for them. The South Carolina resident went out of her way, literally, to find a solution, which turned out to be in Central America. Her trip to the tropics is part of a health insurance experiment for trimming medical costs: overseas care. As Washington searches for ways to tame the country's escalating health care costs, more insurers are offering networks of surgeons and dentists in places like India and Costa Rica, where costs can be as much as 80% less than in America. Until recently, most Americans traveling abroad for cheaper non-emergency medical care were either uninsured or wealthy. But the profile of medical tourists is changing. Now, they are more likely to be people covered by private insurers, which are looking to keep costs from spiraling out of control. The four largest commercial U.S. health insurers — with enrollments totaling nearly 100 million people — have either launched pilot programs offering overseas travel or explored it. Several smaller insurers and brokers also have introduced travel options for hundreds of employers around the country. FIND MORE STORIES IN: South Carolina | Costa Rica | PricewaterhouseCoopers | Southern Methodist University | Aetna | Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association | Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu | Frequent flyer program Growth has been slow in part because some patients and employers have concerns about care quality and legal responsibility if something goes wrong. Plus, patients who have traditional plans with low deductibles may have little incentive to take a trip. But a growing number of consumers with high-deductible plans, which make patients pay more out of pocket, could make these trips more inviting. In the meantime, the insurance industry's embrace of overseas care has had a pleasant side effect at home: some U.S. care providers are offering price breaks to counter the foreign competition. This domestic competition and the slumping economy have led to slower growth for medical tourism over the past year, as patients put off elective procedures that involve big out of pocket costs, said Paul Keckley, executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Last year, the center estimated that 6 million Americans would make medical tourism trips in 2010. But Keckley has since shaved that projection to about 1.6 million people. Still, that more than doubles the roughly 750,000 Americans who traveled abroad in 2007, the last year for which Deloitte had actual numbers. Keckley expects the medical tourism industry to recover, as more health insur
Why cant health insurance work like other insurance? Wreck a car, pay a set deductible done. Need a rental? Your policy covers, done. Car breaks down, warranty covers, done. Health insurance- you have a $10.00 co pay, paid, but we charge $75.00 but your insurance only pays $25.00 so you owe us $50.00 and they only cover 2 a year so you owe us $425.00 It is things like that I want changed. I want a national healthcare. Government regulated, not ran. If per incident charges exceed $5000.00 then this policy kicks in and covers. Just like car insurance does. Clear set understandable rules. And flex savings that don't go away at years end to pay for glasses, dental and prescriptions, that cost us citizens the same as in Canada or on the Internet. IT WAS GOVERNMENT THAT GOT US INTO THIS!!! THEY NEED TO GUIDE US OUT!! Employer-based coverage came about during World War II under FDR as a result of the National War Labor Board’s decision to institute wage and price freezes in an attempt to prevent production shortages due to labor unrest or inflation. The freeze was not applied to fringe benefits like health insurance, allowing employers to compete for skilled workers by offering ever-increasing health insurance coverage. Workers grew accustomed to receiving health benefits from their employers; making employer-provided health benefits became an American institution AND YES THEY SHOULD BE TAXED, By taxing them they are back to income not a hidden source for the wealthy to play and not pay And when you check out of the hospital, or leave a doctors office, bill must be presented in full at time of check out or it is no longer owed. No more three-month latter you owe a or that. It wouldn’t fly at a motel or at a restaurant should not be allowed in healthcare
If it was put to a vote to american people directly, would they choose the following single payor option ? for healthcafe? Every american becomes eligible to sign up for medicare if they choose to at any age. Medicare upgraded to include dental and vision coverage and all coverage becomes a flat 80% of anything you use it for medically related from doctors visits to surgery to hospital stay to routine dental and vision care to dental surgery or eye surgery, pharmaceuticals etc.. A $300 deductible would be applicable to all with some exceptions for those who cannot afford it. Adults could enroll for a monthly payment of $100 a month, and children under 21 could or up to 25 years old in school can enroll for $40 a month. To help pay for this, two taxes would be imposed 1) a national health care tax on all sales of 1% of all non food and clothing purchases with a cap of $100 on any single sales transaction and 2) a 1% national health care tax on anyone making over $50,000 per year up to $1 million income and 2% for any portion of anyone's income that is over one million dollars. Do you think the majority of americans (51% or greater) would say yes to this as an option availiable to americans for health care with the option still available for those who prefer to have private health care insurance still available if thats what they prefer? THIS QUESTION IS NOT ASKING IF YOU WOULD ACCEPT THIS PLAN, BUT RATHER WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IF 51% OR GREATER OF THE AMERICAN CITIZENRY WOULD APPROVE OF IT. just thought about an adjustment to help pay for it. Anyone making over $200,000 a year would pay $250 a month and their children $60 a month.....which is still a better deal than they can get in the private sector, and their annual deductible would be $1000.
Will you call your Senator today to Vote Yes on the Sanders Amendment for Single Payer Healthcare? Senate to Take up Bernie Sanders Single-Payer Health Plan Wednesday WASHINGTON, December 15 - The Senate on Wednesday will debate for the first time in American history a proposal to create a single-payer, Medicare-for-all health care system. "In my view, the single-payer approach is the only way we will ever have a cost-effective, comprehensive health care system in this country," said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), whose amendment will come before the Senate. The Sanders Amendment would provide health care and dental coverage for every American, save money, and improve health care results. "One of the reasons our current health care system is so expensive, so wasteful, so bureaucratic, so inefficient is that it is heavily dominated by private health insurance companies whose only goal in life is to make as much money as they can," Sanders said. The 1,300 profit-making private insurance companies administer thousands of separate plans and waste about $400 billion a year on administrative costs, profiteering, high CEO compensation packages, and advertising. Health care providers spend another $210 billion on administrative costs, mostly to deal with insurance paperwork. As a result, the United States spends $7,129 per person on health care, almost double the amount spent by nearly any other industrialized country. Nevertheless, 46 million Americans lack health insurance, 100 million Americans cannot access dental care, and 60 million Americans do not have access to primary care. Sanders acknowledged that his amendment would not pass. "As a result of the power of the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, this amendment will not pass or even get very many votes. Nonetheless, given the view of millions of us that a single-payer approach is the only way this country will ever provide comprehensive, cost-effective health care to all its citizens, this is an important step forward. "At the end of the day - not this year, not next year, but sometime in the future - this country will come to understand that if we are going to provide comprehensive quality care to all of our people, the only way we will do that is through a Medicare-for-all, single-payer system, and I am glad to be able to start that debate by offering this amendment." To read a summary of the amendment, click here: http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2009/12/15-9 Patriot...while your post is more intelligent than the dittohead sheep on this board...you really drank the Koolaid...with no public option there is no way to stop the Health Insurance Companies from continuing to raise rates...and with weak Employer Mandates but Strong Individual Mandates with Fines-Americans will be forced to pay more for less coverage or pay a penalty! This all benefits the Insurance Industry and Bid Pharma-big contributers to Obama's "Hope and Change" Campaign. The majority of Democrats are in bed with Wall Street, the MIC and Private Healthcare Lobbyists. http://www.commondreams.org/view/2009/12/16-2 http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2009/12/16-5
If health care is so great in the USA why in the hell IS Americans ? Crossing the Southern and Northern border to get health care ? NACO, Mexico (Reuters) – Retired police officer Bob Ritz has health insurance that covers his medical and dental care in the United States. But every few months he drives from his home in Tombstone, Arizona, to this small town in northern Mexico to avoid the healthcare costs that aren't paid by insurance. How will the republicans explain this ?
What's worse.global warming or this? JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE ILLEGAL You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California . Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch.. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay. Do you get it, now? Should we vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens? Your call... __________________ "As an American I am not so shocked that Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize without any accomplishments to his name, but that America gave him the White House based on the same credentials."
Bf’s immaturity: Cultural difference or a real problem? My bf’s 30, American, an associate attorney. I am Chinese, 29, entry level consultant. We've been dating for 3 years and we are really close. He’s been living with him Mom. He told me that he is thinking about spend the rest of his life with me. We just signed an apartment lease for a yr and are moving in together next week. But things he’s been doing just keep telling me he is immature. His income after tax is 40K per year, but he spent 10K last year on his teeth procedures, didn’t bother to look for a dental insurance plan. I asked him to get a dental plan. It’s been two weeks and he hasn’t done it yet. He always says ”I will do research tomorrow.” I don’t want to see him spending another 5K on a cavity--he could use that money to buy me a ring. He’s been looking for his dream job for 3 years, which requires a career change. He's only got 2 interviews, and is still looking. I told him that he is being unrealistic. If he really wants to change career, he should go back to school and recharge himself with a degree required by his dream job. He told me “I will shine.” He is always keeping an eye on TV when he works on his resume, and always waits till the last day to submit job application. I thought because he’s been living with his mom so he had no pressure of supporting himself and a family, that’s why he didn’t have the urgency to look for jobs or manage his finance more responsibly. But now we just signed a lease, he has little money in checking account, and 9K credit card debt. We calculated his income and debt and realize if he doesn’t want to pay high interest, there are only 8 months left for him to pay off this debt. Even though currently I am making half of what he’s making, I have no debt, and have a few thousand $$ in checking. So I just gave him $2K in cash to lower his credit card debt, and I gave landlord $3K for rent security deposit and first month rent. He said he will pay me back later and pay his share of rent after the first month. May be I am too naïve- I thought with a monthly big payment of rent coming, he will have some pressure and treat his life seriously. I am wrong, because he just told me today is the deadline of a job application so he needs to work on his resume tonight- he spent last night watching football game on TV with his friends. I can’t believe this. Some ppl asked: if your bf has so many problems, why are you still with him? Well, he is nonsmoker, nonalcoholic, sweet and cute, doesn’t go to bars, no complicated relationship history, generous to his friends and family, homeboy, supporting Obama… Maybe these are common among guys, but I’ve been dating him only for the last three 3 yrs, and one before him. I don’t know if most guys have the same good traits. So, is this a culture difference? Some Americans told me: “You guys are not married yet. That’s his life, his money, none of your business. “ But to me, if two people are thinking about spending rest of their lives together, aren’t they supposed to be thinking about the near future seriously and financially?
what can i expect dentist/cavities./10 points? I HAVE NO DENTAL INSURANCE HAVENT BEEN TO THE DENTIST SINCE I WAS 7 OR 8. Well I remember the last time i went to the dentist was before i came to american was about age 7 or 8. I'm currently 17 and I havent been to the dentist ever since. I'm kind of imbarrased all my teeth are straight in the front but if you look mostly in the back there are cavities with the plague thing not that much.. I have 7 cavities... 1 which just started its a tiny no color or nothing just a small tiny hole.. 6 other cavities which i can play in with my tongue (lol) not most of them i got as cavities but all of them have the blue decay thing except the 7th one which started. on the left side of my mouth i have 4 cavities 3 of them have a good not quite so big hole but i can fit my tounge in a little and feel the meat. and the other one just has the plague. on the right side of my mouth i have 3 2 which are very open like the rest and 1 tiny one with no plague on it. There are so many bills in my family right now from all the buying and stuff and its just hard to ask my dad to get these filled...as it might get him mad.. Can who ever is reading this tell me what to expect if i go to the dentist. like how much approx will this all cost to fix? most of the openings are on the top and a couple/few have the decay on the side..its hard to smile sometimes since ppl might recognize... but my teeth are white its just the cavities. I dont have a job going to school still...and im planning to get these filled before next school year. 10 points read here: but how much do you think it will cost to get all this actually done 6 not that big openings and 1 small tiny opening to get filled/cleaned with the compost filling that actually looks like you had nothing done to your teeth since i dont like the silver fillings. How much and what will they do will the dentist be mad? no they never hurt...except the last one lol. $4,000 dollars wow? lol
Problems with a new dentist? I recently went to a different dentist because my usual, family dentist dropped off of my insurance plan. I was only planning on going once for my cleaning and then I was going to go back to the usual dentist the following year when they went back on the plan. Well when I went in they performed x-rays and did the cleaning plus a fluoride treatment. When the dentist came to do the check, he said that I had 10 cavities, three of which required root canals. It had only been a little over a year since my last cleaning (I have trouble scheduling more because I am at an out of state college) and I had no problems at the last one. Well I requested my x rays and the treatment plan (They were very hasty that I print my plan and sign it so "I could lock in the prices before the new year") and decided to wait until the start of the year and get a consult from my normal dentist. I went there in January. He said that there was no way I needed three root canals and that I had 5 minor cavities. It seems to me that there should be something I can do in order to have them accountable. They would have performed 5 procedures I didn't need including three root canals. Is there something I can do in this situation like contact the American Dental Association? I know I heard that there was a recent case where a large number of people sued. 1 second ago - 4 days left to answer.
How important is the United States Economy to you as 2008 is coming to an end and 2009 is about to begin? As 2008 is about to come to a close and 2009 approaching us, how important is the United States economy to you? As an American who is going to be graduating college in December, the economy is a very important issue to me since I am about to start my journey in a career in public relations. There are many college students who are going to be graduating in December and throughout 2009 who need jobs right away. After all, they have student loans to pay off, debt to pay off on credit cards, and they need benefits such as health and dental insurance. Students need professional jobs in which they can apply their major in their career field and although the economy is not in strong shape right now, I am cautiously optimistic that the economy will improve next year.
Help! My Mom is Sick? It's really hard to get my mom to the docor. She is a 59 yr. old African American woman. She has been in bed for over a month. She complains of body aches like feelings that her organs a swollen and her back hurts badly. Along with that she doesn't have medical or dental insurance and all of her teeth are breaking off and noe she has an abset front bottom tooth that has her mouth swelling at the chin. Any kind of suggestion of what it may be or what to do will be greatly appreciated. Can't pay for coverage, lost my job and car was impounded Friday.
How will this mother pay for her children's health care? Father of 4 children, doing pretty well for himself, making over $70,000 per year abandons homemaker wife and 4 children 10, 8, 5 and 3 years old. She has been a homemaker all throughout the marriage. She has gets a job at making $15,000 per year but does not get health insurance from employer and really cannot afford to buy insurance on her own. Meanwhile her husband has disappeared and is paying no child support. When the 4 children get sick, and when the mother gets sick, or if they want to have preventative routine healthcare and dental care, how will they get medical care....in your vision of how american health care. Before you answer, please take into consideration that the 5 people in question, the mom and the 4 children did nothing wrong, and are actually victims, just like many other americans have not necessarily done anything wrong when their employers lay them off or other calamities occur. Please please please, if you believe our current system is adequate for dealing with this situation, please be very specific how it would be dealth with..especially the part about routine doctors visits and dentist visits and preventative care. I am not getting specificity on how they would get health care. People seem to be avoiding going into detail..why I dont know.
Why do Americans say the English have bad teeth?? We have free dental treatment and a free national health service in the UK, whereas there are currentley 40 million Americans living without any medical insurance. Surely that must mean they have much worse teeth? Maybe the English had bad teeth 200 years ago?
Americans - I pay £118 ($180) per month in National Insurance. How does this compare? My National Insurance payment, which is like a tax, covers all healthcare, dental, prescriptions, etc. and also things like redundancy payments if I lose my job. And obviously it covers my children too. So if any of us get sick, we can see a doctor and have any necessary medical treatment without having to pay a deductible, or anything else. I think it's crazy that America doesn't have a free national healthcare sservice, but when I posted a question recently about whether Obama planned to introduce one everyone was up in arms about how they didn't want "socialist medicine". I don't understand this, and wondered whether perhaps your insurance payments perhaps work out cheaper than my NI payment? I am a mother with three children. How much would a private insurance payment be for us? (None of us smoke or drink, but me and two of the children have asthma.) MikeGolf, I can also choose my family doctor, and if I decide I don't like him, I can just sign up with another one. When I visit the doctors office I pay nothing. I've never had a sinus infection, so I don't know whether the treatment I get would be comparable, but when my sister was diagnosed with Osteo Sarcoma it was two weeks from diagnosis to operating theatre to replace the bone with a titanium prosthesis, and that delay was only because that was how long it took to make the prosthesis. Total cost - zero (and do you have any idea what titanium costs?). She has now been cancer free for over ten years and can still play the piano. Yes, someone is else paying my healthcare costs - rich people. Just as I am paying the costs for someone who doesn't work and thus pays no NI. I only work part time, which is probably why someone full-time pays more. It's based on income. Do your insurance premiums go down if you're out of work?
What is the hole in our health care system that needs fixing? I hear there are millions of working americans and their families that have no health insurance..due to employers not offering it.....which sounds like a very bad situation. But I also often hear that everyone in this country has access to free health care if they need it. I also know that in politics people will exaggerate things to make their case so they can have their way. Which is it, are millions of americans not getting health care? Are millions of elderly gettting healthcare but its not really adequate, and their prescriptions unaffordable? Is health care too expensive? Maybe we dont have a problem at all as others say.. Which is it? If your positions is that everyone has access to good free preventative health and dental care, then please be kind enough to explain how it works...does it vary from state to state? Are some states not providing adequate free health care for those who need it? So many questions....but I think you get the idea, please give good information I am interested in hearing facts, not short slogan like propaganda. Blaming it all on lawyers is too trite. I want details, personal stories of how you have been a victim of the current system would be great. The objective here is to learn from information and from fellow americans experiences. I am interested in comments that differentiate between good preventative health and dental care and emergency care. Wow...Fantastic answers. You guys seem sharper than the politicians we have in D.C.
why is 85% of americans do not have this? dental insurance. I am doing a project and I chose to do health coverage and it is strange my dental/optical insurance is only 12.95 a month and cover 60% of my bill. Aspnational.com/websites/315004 plus my mom has four kids and the are all covered with this price!
Are you Americans worried about the lack of universal healthcare? Would you be in favour of adopting a system like in Canada? Canada's health care system is a group of socialized health insurance plans that provides coverage to all Canadian citizens. It is publicly funded and administered on a provincial or territorial basis, within guidelines set by the federal government. Under the health care system, individual citizens are provided preventative care and medical treatments from primary care physicians as well as access to hospitals, dental surgery and additional medical services. With a few exceptions, all citizens qualify for health coverage regardless of medical history, personal income, or standard of living. Yes even though your med research is more advanced in some areas, at least every citizen is covered for a wide range of procedures (even eyes) and paps so I am glad I live here! I pity you ppl down there where you pay through the nose for insurance....and if you lose the insurance you're screwed......
Is it just me, or is Obama becoming mean and even more politically tone-deaf? I used to really like the guy, but it seems now that his inexperience is showing. He loses his cool a lot more now than he ever used to. First a couple weeks ago he called the Cambridge police officers "stupid" even though he didn't know the facts. Now he's telling workers in Indiana that America wasn't built on "griping and complaining" (which is accusing people of complaining and griping). That is a lot of ammunition for the opposition and I don't understand why he is digging his own political grave. People don't want to hear his pep-talks anymore, they want ACTION. Did you know that his healthcare plan doesn't have dental insurance, and if you want dental insurance you have to pay extra? The majority of Americans don't want his plan (they want reform, but not Obama reform), and the more he receives this reaction to his plan, the more he pushes it. Just like when he said "people stick to their guns and religion," he seems to be saying much worse these days. What's with this? Should our president be losing his cool and acting unprofessionally like this? I am a Social Democrat, by the way, so don't call me a Republican.
Any Americans here AGAINST free healthcare? And Why? The modern belief that it will raise your taxes is false btw. It will raise them in one place but at the same time it would eleminate retirement funds, health and dental insurance, as well as social security tax. All this added up mean more money in pocket and less money put aside for retirement. Still against it? Why? it WOULD eliminate the listed taxes. There would be no need for them anymore. retirement funds are to pay for healthcare after you stop working. Also, add life insurance to that list.
JOE LEGAL VS JOE ILLEGAL????? This is one major reason California is on the brink of bankruptcy! WHAT AN EYE OPENER!!! Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive for the State of California ... You have 2 families..."Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California. "Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted...."Jose Illegal" also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table". Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year Now take 30% away for state and federal tax. Joe Legal now has $31,231.00 Jose Illegal...$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes... Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00 Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage $1000.00 per month $12,000.00 per year Joe Legal now has $19,231.00 Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00 Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare Joe Legal pays for food $1,000.00 per month $12,000.00 per year Joe Legal now has $ 7,231.00 Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200..00 Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000..00 per month $12,000.00 per year Joe Legal is now in the hole minus (-) $4,769.00 Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy Jose Illegal pays rent $500.00 per month $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $25,200.00 Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work to break even. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services. Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay. Why would you support any politician that supports illegal aliens? Its PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans and vote these people out regardless of their part affiliation! Anyone who decides to enter here illegally are already breaking the law and they plan to get whatever they can. They steal documents so they can work, and the employers don't check them out....I have the same feelings about the employers, because you're right, they are a huge part of the problem. I would love to see them fined big time.....I also don't approve of anyone abusing the system that we all pay for, but the illegals here in Ca. cost us over 13 billion dollars, a large part of our financial mess. So many people who don't live among this don't have a clue of what this is all about. They just feel sorry for them and want to help them......Unfortunatly we cannot provide for everyone that wants to live here, especially now.
Can Anyone Provide Me With a Reasonable Argument Against Universal Health Care for ALL Americans? Universal Health Care provides coverage for every citizen. Doctors are guaranteed payment. Doctors can receive merit pay if they get their patients to lose weight, quit smoking, lower their cholesterol, etc. There would be no HMOs to DENY LIFESAVING procedures. There would be no HMOs to DENY Coverage to those with preexisting medical conditions. There would be no more co-pays for doctors visits or prescription drugs. We could replace Medicaid and Medicare which cost over $300 Billion per year. Combine that with the $92 Billion we can save by ending Corporate Welfare and we could provide every American with Health Care and Dental Care. If you have money and want to opt out and buy your own insurance, you can do that too! There are currently 47 million Americans without Health insurance. The United States spends more on Health Care than countries that have Universal Health Care and those countries cover EVERY citizen. Where's the down-side to Universal Healthcare? We either pay for it through higher taxes or we pay for it by ending Corporate Welfare. The US Government gave out $92 BILLION in US Tax Payers money in 2006 alone to companies with profits in the millions and billions of dollars. Why isn't that money being used to take care of ALL Americans, and not just the rich? If we could cover every American with $90 billion dollars, then we wouldn't really need Medicaid and Medicare would we? That's another $300+ billion the US would be saving per year. Can you say TAX CUTS?!!? So not only do we cover EVERY American but we have $300 billion to give back to the people in tax cuts. That's win-win in my book! There are LINES NOW! Has anyone ever gone into an ER and not waited for a few hours? Unless you're bleeding, etc. you WAIT. Sometimes you have to WAIT to see a doctor here too. If you're afraid of there not being enough doctors, then let's allow foreign doctors into the US who can practice medicine up the US standards. That measure alone would save another $80 billion per year or about $800 per family. (http://www.ConservativeNannyState.org) STOP TRYING TO SCARE PEOPLE! Our current system is BROKEN. We'll never know how Universal HealthCare will work here in the US unless we TRY! The US pays MORE NOW than countries with Universal Health Care and those countries cover EVERY citizen. Do people who PAY HMO's ALWAYS USE their Coverage? NO! Should they get a refun? NO! But they still keep their coverage just in case. In the RICHEST country in the world, NO ONE should be without Health Care! STOP trying to SCARE people with "doctor shortages" and "waiting lines." We all wait NOW anyway. And we don't even KNOW for SURE that there would BE waiting lines. STOP trying to SCARE people with "doctor shortages" and "waiting lines." We all wait NOW anyway. And we don't even KNOW for SURE that there would BE waiting lines. You can't just make up facts. We're all entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts. If anyone can provide me with sources with unbiased, non-partisan, reasonable, logical fact based cases against UHC, I'll gladly take a look at them.
Am I the only one confused about who to vote for? It seems to me that both parties, Democrat and Republican, have dedicated this election to confusing the American voters. Between all of the lies, blames, self-contradictions, personal/family stabs, and name calling, it seems that we are in a "Damned if I do/Damned if I don't" situation when it comes down to who to vote for. Both sides seem to me, to equally share faults, and promise. Who is for the poor, the disabled, the elderly, and the Americans that are burdened with decisions like - how do I get health/medical/dental/life insurance, when I can't even afford medications, or gas, to go get medications? Why give tax breaks to American companies that send jobs overseas? What is 'pork', is this just special individual interest? How can we trust millionaires running our country to help the poor, when they don't have to worry about clothing, feeding, protecting, and just plain providing for their families? We pay taxes, that pay the American leaders salaries, don't we? It seems like we are providing our leaders with "The life of Riley", at the expense of not being able to provide for our own loved ones. Is there 'anyone' in this Yahoo community that can honestly, and sincerely explain this to me? Also, I would appreciate that "all" individuals who just want to be smarta##es and don't know what they are talking about, refrain from any remarks. Plus, I could care less about skin color, as I feel that this election should not be decided racially!!
To all those opposed to health care reform and affordable health care..what should we do? what should we do with working families that do not make enough to afford good preventative health care and dental care? which as we know is even more important than emergency care...for it is good preventative care that reduces major health problems. So the question is ....ok..you are opposed to health care reform, but what would we do with senior citizens who cant afford to pay for all the medicines that they are taking, or a family of six, whose employers do not offer health insurance and the family has to go buy health insurance at $500 per month on a salary of $40,000 per year? or any other endless examples that say clearly that health care and health insurance costs are out of control...I am speaking not of bums who are not working, but working americans who are in a crisis. Plus the bums as you call them..what should happen to them? no health care at all? just let them die off in some street corner?
Why can't more Americans stand together and demand better treatment from our government?? I think that our fore fathers, our grandparents, and parents did not fight with blood sweat and tears, to see Americans going without healthcare and dental care. In the BILLIONS paid in taxes, and the BILLIONS sent out of this county for others, it is way past the time for a national health insurance that is the right of every American, living here in America. IT can be done, and should be done, if we quit electing politicians too busy making themselves and their friends and families rich, or richer, we need politician that again CARE and work for WE THE PEOPLE
Any recommendations/warnings about Medi-Cal approved dentists in the Inglewood (Los Angeles) area? I just got approved for Medi-Cal and now I'm looking into their dentist selection for the Inglewood, CA, and surrounding areas. Are there any recommendations, or does anyone have any warnings? Please let me know good experiences and bad, and don't forget to name dentists and insurance companies. Currently under Medi-Cal, I can choose among Care1st, SafeGuard, Liberty Dental Plan, American Health Guard Dental Plan, Western Dental, Community Dental Services, Access Dental, and Health Net Dental to be my dental plan. I'm looking in Inglewood ideally, but I'd gladly drive to Culver City, Santa Monica, Hawthorne, or even Huntington Park if the dentist is recommended highly enough, and if parking is practical. Thank you so much for any and all input.
If Obama were to be elected President. How...? ...would it benefit me or not benefit me If Obama were to be elected President? Keep in mind I live in a small town that's in a state with less then one million for a population. I am also a single parent with two young children (They get As and Bs in school) and I make less then 25K a year. I am also debt free. I also have good health insurance with dental and an RX plan. My hobbies include camping, hiking, agate collecting, photography, target shooting and hunting. We also go to church every Sunday. We are a good family unit and we believe in traditional American values. So how would it be beneficial or not to my family if Obama were to be our next President? I never claimed my life needed improvement. I like things just fine they way they are. Right on Jordan M!! You got it right. Aside from advances in technology, life here is no different now then it was fourty years ago and beyond.
why is everyone saying they are having an easy life in america on this forum? do we live in the same america ? or are the folks on YA just a bunch of rich folk ? well i dont exactly find it easy myself. not saying i find it tough but dang my comcast bill and insurance and city sticker and registration and house payment, (thank the lord car is paid for), and health insurance and dental, and grocery and electricity and phone bill and gas, and car repairs and clothes and etc etc and that is only the half of it. why do people on YS always say that we americans are spoiled ? are they welfare users who dont have to lift a finger hence find it easy and feel spoilt rotten ? somebody help me out here ? compred to what countries exactly ???? have you ever being to sweden, switzerland, denmark, finland, england, ghana, canada, costa rica, spain, italy, portugal, hungary, dubai , etc etc etc ?????????? all these people have a better standard of living and have it easier than americans. why do americans always think they have it easier ?
Why do some people defend obscene wealth so much? Its really amazing this fervent belief that americans have that CEO's who have bankrupted their publicly owned companies are entitled to their $50 million dollar salaries and bonuses and that there is nothind immoral or decadent about that...that since the board of the company paid them that much that it makes it ok...and that such obsene salaries are no one's business. What does this say about our society? It probably means that we are a society that says if you want a decent health care and dental and vison insurance program where 80% of your expenses are covered and only a $100 dollar annual deductible and that you have to pay over $2000 a month for you, your wife and 2 children to be covered...that its ok.....its acceptable that this insurance coverage costs this much. It also says that you are a society that is willing to lay off your citizens and send their jobs to other countries so that profit margins are higher, or that you are a society that is willing to cut taxes for those with the most so that the rest of society in general can have less for education, healthcare, roads, bridges, etc..... I am very concerned about what lurks in the hearts of our society these days. We need change ..and fast !!!!!
Are you confused about Hillary Clinton's proposed National Health Care? Here’s a summary: Hillary Clinton has unveiled the third part of her plan to ensure that all Americans have affordable, quality health insurance. Building on her proposals to rein in costs and to insist on value and quality, her American Health Choices Plan will secure, simplify and ensure choice in health coverage for all Americans. This Plan covers every American – finally addressing the needs of the 47 million uninsured and the tens of millions of workers with coverage who fear they could be one pink slip away from losing their health coverage – with no overall increase in health spending or taxes. For those with health insurance, the plan builds on the current system to give businesses and their employees greater choice of health plans – including keeping the one they have – while lowering cost and improving quality. Specifically, the American Health Choices Plan will: 1.Offer New Coverage Choices for the Insured and Uninsured: The American Health Choices Plan gives Americans the choice to preserve their existing coverage, while offering new choices to those with insurance, to the 47 million people in the United States without insurance, and the tens of millions more at risk of losing coverage. 2.The Same Choice of Health Plan Options that Members of Congress Receive: Americans can keep their existing coverage or access the same menu of quality private insurance options that their Members of Congress receive through a new Health Choices Menu, established without any new bureaucracy as part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program (FEHBP). In addition to the broad array of private options that Americans can choose from, they will be offered the choice of a public plan option similar to Medicare. 3.A Guarantee of Quality Coverage: The new array of choices offered in the Menu will provide benefits at least as good as the typical plan offered to Members of Congress, which includes mental health parity and usually dental coverage. 4.Lower Premiums and Increase Security: Americans who are satisfied with the coverage they have today can keep it, while benefiting from lower premiums and higher quality. 5.Reducing Costs: By removing hidden taxes, stressing prevention and a focus on efficiency and modernization, the plan will improve quality and lower costs. 6.Strengthening Security: The plan ensures that job loss or family illnesses will never lead to a loss of coverage or exorbitant costs. For more info click on this link: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/feature/healthcareplan/americanhealthchoicesplan.pdf AJ: Govenment is already very much in our lives if you consider all the social programs & benefits that I have no room to list here but nevertheless, we are already enjoying. However, you are right that holistic medicine should also be included.
Help Us Americans Out !!? I have American friends who are retired to Panama. They are entitled to free, universal, government sponsored healthcare. However, they tell me to avoid lines, delays, low quality, they have purchased supplemental private health insurance at $200 per month-family plan, that entitles them to celebrity status premium healthcare from private doctors. At any rate, this looks like a bargain, when average health (dental and medical) insurance in America, can run upwards of $700 per month, plus a copay surcharge. . Can anybody from other foreign countries throw some light on this situation?Help ! ! ! As we Americans are regularly lied to via purchased propaganda by healthcare lobbyists. .
Americans and the English. Bad Teeth? Americans do have better teeth. However, they also have far worse teeth. We English receive free dental care and there are twenty percent of American adults with no insurance. Why do American visitors of this site say we have bad teeth? They watch it on TV and assume it? (The same applies to their view of their nation's teeth.) I guess my question is "How could a whole nation allow themselves to continually believe everything they see on TV?" ie.:- Weapons of mass destruction. The war's not about oil. Guns don't cause death. People do! (I don't believe Americans are just evil and that's why they have the highest murder rate on the planet.) Bush won in Florida (how can that be allowed? in the US?!) Oh yeah, Everyone hates Americans. (not true) Blacks in the US are treated the same Americans are intrinsically better people Evil is inate. We attend church every week or more (those surveyed were watched and found to be lying mostly, they said after, because it was the American way.) Are we just as deluded? Could such a thing be measured. (NO one should be insulted by this as I am interested in the TV thing. Does it control our lives, etc. America is a bigger TV nation, I believe)
how much it will cost me having tooth feeling .i havn`t visited yet dentist in saint louis? I DON`T HAVE DENTAL OR MEDICAL INSURANCE AND I AM AFRAID TO VISIT DENTIST HERE IN SAINT LOUIS. I AM NOT AMERICAN AND DON`T KNOW HOW MUCH ARE THE DENTAL SERVICES. I`VE ONLY HEARD THAT THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE.
Questions about health insurance Dubai? Here are my conclusions with a little help from "h". It’s not a Federal Law that health insurance has to be included in a contract. That's why it's only in AD. In AD it is mandatory for an employer to insure the employee, spouse and up to 3 kids under the age of 18. Employees are mostly under a group insurance. Because there are different insurance plans, the value and the prices for policies differ a lot. Most employers offer an insurance plan covering the Middle East, which includes also India, Egypt or the Philippines. The international plan covers the mentioned plus the rest of the world beside Canada. **Dental has to be applied separate** Because the group insurance has to be the same for all employees, you mostly find the UAE coverage. The most common insurance is DAMAN which has the most acceptance and direct billing system, but requires at least 25 employees. The costs of the insurance depend on the coverage, your gender, age and medical history. For married women maternity is included. You can compare DAMAN with the cheapest legal insurance scheme back in Europe. (An insurance which has to insure everybody) Price can vary from Dhs 1800 (man 30y.) to Dhs 7000 (man 55y.) yearly depending on the a.m. facts. There are several plans at each insurance company: *Local Plan or Regional Plan *UAE Plan *UAE+GCC Plan *Global Plan *International Plan Also are there maximum limits (from 25000 – 100.000 or higher) for each plan, deductible claims and “own risks”. Note that the terms are based on the assumption that you have not been insured before and that no claims experience exists so far. Should it be otherwise, the Insurance Companies reserves the right to adjust the premium from the effective date of policy accordingly. You only can take insurance from the Emirate which you are a resident of. Don’t matter where you live as long the visa is from Dubai. From my personal experience it's almost impossible to find a private health insurance for an individual only. The insurance companies mostly offer group insurances only and some demand 10 or more clients as a minimum, like these: Daman (DNIRC) min. 25 pers. Al Buheira min. 10 pers. Emirates Insurance CO min. 20 pers. Received information or quotations: *Oman Healthcare *Alfuttaim *Alliance *Al Buheira National Insurance *Daman National Health Insurance *Emirates Insurance CO *Nextcare Arab Gulf Health Service *Alico (American Life Insurance CO) *Expacare (UK based/Germany re-insured) > NASCO Dubai *Expatservice(Germany based-Hanse Merkur, Hamburg) >NASCO Dubai *MedNet UAE FZ >NASCO Dubai Oman Health Insurance has 7 plans with limits from 50.000 till 300.000, reasonable fees and coverage and is -as far as my limited knowledge in this field can reach- attractive and recommendable. The scheme is compulsory for the principal and his family members residing in UAE on valid residence visa (except for AbuDhabi!!) NASCO is a Paris based insurance “broker” in the UAE and has a respectable list of clients, like Air France, Arenco, British and American University, Spinney’s, TNT, etc………… but is expensive, maybe because it’s based in Europe. From ALICO (See below) we received a quotation, which is situated on our present situation. For example, the fee for the persons in the “higher age” is here cheaper than for example at DAMAN, where they charge around 7000 aed. In my personal opinion are Alfuttaim (MedNet),HealthNet (NGI) and Oman Insurance Co. the best options, but as I said, you cannot find individual private health insurances. Just convince your employer to do like I did. Good luck everybody!! Sorry,I cannot put here our personal quotation due privacy reasons of our staff.
Should homeowners pay a little more tax so single moms on welfare can buy a car and pay for college ? A single Chinese mom who moved to the USA after marrying an American man. After about 2 years and getting her green card she and her teenage son left the man. She receives a free Apt., utilities, food, medical, dental etc. from welfare but needs a car and insurance and college education for her son. Also cell phone and cable TV are needed. Do you think taxes should be raised on homeowners so this mom can receive what she needs? She wants to stay in the USA and become a citizen.
what else could i put?;;; health homework!? i'm doing a "report" for health and it needs to be half a page long w' 12 font. so far, i've got thisss,,,,,, "Most americans in the United States over the age of fifty five, have high blood pressure. Having high blood pressure is a major risk factor for stroke, and heart disease. A lot of elder Americans don't have life insurance. One in five adults, don't have health insurance. One person out of every ten, said they weren't able to get the prescription drugs they needed. Young adults are more likely to lack insurance, and medical care. One in ten people from the age of 45-64, don't have a source of health care, and have high blood pressure, serious heart conditions, or diabetes. Most children in the united states, don't have frequent dental visits. The United States spent one point seven trillion dollars on health care in 2003." and now i'm stuck. ^^that takes up like a quarter of the page, so i'm half way done. what else could i put? like what could i typeee? or could somebody give me an idea of what to put? the health assignment, says to write an article that is cureent and relates to either health or fitness.
How many Americans have to pull their own teeth? or deal with their pain in not just dental problems but medical problems too, because they cannot afford to pay private dental or healthcare fees/insurance under your private-only system? I inmagine its a lot higher than the people who do it in the UK. We can at least get emergency dental treatment free of charge and all our basic healthcare needs are met. Didn't a child recently die of a tooth abcess in your country because her parents could not pay private dental fees and there is no socialised medicine? In the UK all children are entitled to free dental treatment. beanie - how would the poor and low paid afford to pay health insurance? The unemployed? Are we to return the the days of the 1930s when my great aunt lost two children because she was too poor to pay a doctor and buy the medications to save them from a relatively simple infection? God forbid. freedom_ : I posted this in response to all the Americans posting about this spurious article. Its garbage. I have never had to "pull my own teeth" and know noone who has had to do so! There are free emergency dental clinics available in all towns for emergency dental work such as extractions, pain releif etc. Dental care is free for children, the elderly, the unemployed, pregnant women, disabled people etc. Others can take out Dental Insurance or pay privately. Or get reduced feeds at an NHS Dentist. We have muchmore access to Dental care than Americans do. This article is garbage. libbyft - you're right, I live in Caerphilly and when I needed to find an NHS dentist this year it only took about 10mins of ringing around to find one. I registered myself, my partner and my baby son. Theres always someone in the local area taking NHS patients, maybe these people who say there isn't just expect their local just-down-the-road dentist to take them and won't travel to the another area of town for an NHS dentist, who knows? Plus there is an emergency dental clinic in EVERY town which will do any emergency work, pain releif etc. Noone needs go without dental treatment or pull out their own teeth!!!. I think those people who do pull their own teeth are either whackjobs or just scared of the dentist (I actually knew an old man who did it because dentists scared him lol! He was nuts!)
Why don't we take welfare away from everyone except people having their first kid? I mean give them welfare for six months just so they 100% sure are ready, and then stop the free money. People who are working on their second kid should be responsible enough to have had a job long enough to afford health insurance through their work place. Most full time jobs offer health and dental after six- nine months, raises and reasonable pay. If you're making minimum wage, you need to find another job. It's that simple. Minimum wage jobs are for students! That's one of the main reasons they raised it. The welfare system is abused and we have all these Americans blaming the rich for not paying for it. What is that? Then what makes it worse is it is angering a bunch of people to the point that those who actually do need welfare are being called bums. If I worked my summer job year around I would make 21,000 dollars, and I am able to rent a house, have the internet, LAN line telephone, cell phone, eat out at least twice a week, spend 40 bucks on a shirt, and so on. ANd with the exception of Britney Spears anyone who has a new born kid is going to have to sacrifice some luxeries if you're an actual responsible parent.... No matter how much money you have. Time, money, whatever... Responsible parents sacrifice. Some abuse the system? Some?! Are you angry white cause I am tired of working for the summer and shoveling out money I can spend on college to people who abandon their kids? WHo won't find a reasonable job? Don't get angry at me. I agree that if you can't afford a child and accidently get pregnant then get an abortion if you wish. This is another thing that angers me. These repubs get angry about abortion and call those who choose to use the right bad people, but then call them bad people when they turn to welfare to afford the kid. I have a life... What are you gtting so angry about? Cause I paid 26,000 dollars this year to go to college out of my pocket, or I work to pay for books, food and internet? The things I need. Come on man... That is my life right there. I just paid every last bit of money I had to a credit card company because I had to pay for a bunch of journals to finish a final. Don't tell me to get a life, cause in reality, I don't have time for one anyway. My entertainment sadly enough is Yahoo Answers between my classes during the day, or study breaks during the night. Maybe these welfare bums need to start their life, and I think you're one of them. All I hear is excuses in this question. Sadly enough no one answered it. Insulting people is not an answer to the question... That is just childish since this is supposed to be fun...
"Americans"... Medical expenses? How much does it cost for a general dental checkup, or a visit to the doctor? Also, how much is medical insurance to cover such costs? In Australia for example we pay an average of $56 a month for medical insurance and this covers general dental up to $400 pa, as well as free emergency hospital admission.
Why dont we just do a flat tax and move forward? 20% of what you make...100% access to good healthcare? No retirement worries. You get X % of what you earned in your lifetime. No freaking out if you picked the right stocks so you could retire with dignity and not have to bag groceries because the market crashed? One MONTH off work every year; youryearly vacation....just like the Europeans. (Yes..those Repubs who haven't been out of your own state...they take off for a MONTH and travel.....a paid vacation) Millions of Americans lost entire retirement money/benefits by (oft crooked) companies going out of business...or laying off a 25 year employee 6 months or year before they were eligible for benefits It wasn't long ago, if you worked for a company that had 10 or more employees, they were REQUIRED BY LAW to furnish health insurance. All these laws vanished under the Great Bush Train Robbery. Oh, and this new plan includes total dental....not the discount BS these insurance companies offer. If you got sick...cancer, etc. You wouldn't get wiped out. If Hedge fund manager makes 100 million...he pays 20%. If you make 20,000 a year..you pay 20%. If Mick Jaggger makes 200,000 a show in the US...he pays 20%. If Google makes 2 billion...they pay 20% {Maybe it needs to be 25%, but you get a higher quality of life} Along with this...THE SBA gets expanded. If you have the ability, you can open your own small business. Right...you can actually get rich if you are smart enough under this 'social support system' plan. *******Would you take a trade off like this? There would be more social support systems in place with such a plan, too numerous to mention (even Warren Buffet says his secretary pays a higher tax rate than he does....Buffet was very vocal about the stupidity of the original Bush tax cuts years ago) ...Let all the accountants go get retrained. They can all go built new roads, bridges and schools.. wind turbines...(ha)
To THE PRESIDENT HERE"S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO STOP DISCRIMANATION IN AMERICA? First Off : All night long I heard The President was African America. When he is an ; Ac: American Causian: white mom, Black father. We are Americans could we please quit the bawling and swaling about the color of our skin. And Get to the real Discrimnation Stories In America. Abc's to Be President: Hey Oprah you quoted Jesus Bible verses last night get guts and put the Bible in action woman. How to slove Driscrimation in America! A. What is a service connected Veteran? One who retired from the service after so many years, or one who became mentally ill while in service. One who is allowed to make $200,000 or more and get medical benifits, social security , and pensions with no income limits. Thisnks stink. B. A non service connected Veteran is someone who is dying from cancer crawling on the floor to the bathrooms because they have no medical insurance, or screaming from flashbacks from wars of 20 years ago because the left the exact same service and the exact same war many after 4 years of service and if there $637 ssi check from social security comes in the veteran's office cuts their vet check out to:$5 a month, no health ins. Is A or B the real disabled Veteran. If you saved B you are totally wrong according to America: It is the abied bodily Man who hogs the person dying medical care. How low can you go AMerica. C. I just found out my 72 year old mother who has never had a spending ticket, or drunk driving because she don't drink will become a risk same as a teenager at 74. It is clearly that their is age discrmination going on in America with insurance and health care. D. If your a woman your health Insurance is higher that is sex discrimnation. E. My daughter who is a ripe old age of 21 paid $100 for health care a month she went to emerceny for a severe sinus infection where she could not breath and health care ins. did not pay one dime on it. Hey President Make more for the need hospitals "the bill was $500 but she paid over $1200 for worthy health ins. at a major health care insurance. E. Life insurance : discrimanation there: You get over 40 and you pay $40-and over 70 it's $100 a pop and even baby die. F. Not all unemployed people are black : infact I know a person who applied for over 100,000 jobs who is white and still unemployed and they paid to take a course in college and passed it and got a certificate reason they paid was because when they first starting college: the college plain out toward them seog grants were only foor black people, and they had no job and they lived with a single parent below proverty. Discrimanation in college must stop. F. Infact one of my children applied for a schoarship to college and had a better gpa for minorities and the boy whole one 70% of his race to the 5% of the other racist combined. 1. 5 whites 2.10 mexicans 3. 2 japan 4. 50 blacks well who gets the miniority schoarship: there is discrimnation at college and on awards even if the income of the other person is lower, they still award it to the other color. therefore race should be extempted from fa applications. G. Everyone should be treated the same but rich kids do not need hope schoarships because they are going out buying no house and cars saying I earned it: It is impossible to earn anything if you never worked for it. H. Wouldn't it be nice if taxes even out 25% on dollar except for medical, dental, car necessitis and house taxes. I. Service connected vets who have incomes triple the amount of non service connected vets get free house taxes in some counties in some states: house taxes should go by income only. The lower the income the lower the taxes should be. the country is only full of freedom for some people my dream job would be to be a news paper reporter or talk show host someone like dear abby, since the position of God was filled or I would have shoved my foot up hog rear ends years ago. J. We want jobs K. mentally ill people can't live with realatives but the states will give person dirty care homes that don't even wacth then $3000 a month for upkeep. However if the realative moves the in than they are not even entitled to $637 a month J. Crime is high because people are allowed to commit crime read the obstruction of justice recorsd in one county alone one policeman filed 96 obstructions in one month felony obstructed and the people he filled them one didn't even have traffic tickets , he wouldn't know if the robber was there because he was always to busy abusing his oath of office. Tennesee will always be republic because they have all the mountain entertainment at 12% tax on hotel extra and all , keeps all cars tags under $30 a pop and house taxes low. my ant told me last night the low life meaning people on medicad her husband is a se

I need a lawyer for a discrimination issue? I live in Phoenix, AZ. I lost my job and had to go to DES for help and was given ACCCESS and a small food award, for which I am thankful. But because I collect $240 per week from unemployment, no other assistance is available. I was making twice that when I worked but barely getting by, so the loss has been devistating, and we are now homeless. Not long ago I learned from a DES worker, why many other families are able to buy new cars and clothes for their children, even with the economy being so bad. Only 1 parent is working but they are able to pay off their homes early, and support multiple children, while making payments and insurance on at least 2 new, or almost new vehicles. Our welfare system pays full benefits to children with parents that do not have a Social Security number. Its no wonder people are risking death to get here. Even IF the parent that's working has a work permit, DES ONLY DEEMS 10% OF HIS/HER INCOME. Incidentally she/he files exempt on his/her taxes, and claims not only his children, but his relative's children as well. The DES worker that I spoke to wants to remain anonymous for fear of losing her job as she is not supposed to disclose such information. But I asked a few DES workers and they would not speak about it, but nodded and agreed that is the policy of DES to give our taxes to non citizens to take care of their families while US citizen families go without. In one specific case mentioned, the mother doesn't work. She has a full time job taking care of 7 children, some of which are not hers, but are related to her. Supposedly her sister left them and they would otherwise be orphans. The man of the house BRINGS HOME $1300.00 per week, and has a permit to work in the USA. Because neither parent has a SS#, only 10% of his income is deemed on the family's application for benefits. The children, and the adults, qualify and collect the maximum allowed benefits for each family member. Maximum food stamps, maximum cash assistance, and ACCCESS. If the working member of the house doesn't have a work permit, there is no way for DES or the IRS to track his/her earnings. The children are treated as their own "household". With no one working in their "household", they qualify for max benefits. They live in "low income" parts of town, but drive Escalades with TVs in the headrests! Their children drive new Maximas and Accords and somehow they can afford the driver's insurance for these kids as well, and with only one parent working. I dont know about you all, but both my parents had to work all my life. And we were barely scraping by. My children, and yours if you have a SS#, have been discriminated against simply because we are American citizens, we have Social Security numbers, and work for a living. What steps do I take to rectify the situation? Who do I file complaints with? What channels do I take? I don't have a lot of money. Should I get a lawyer? Where might I find a lawyer to represent us? I am a single mother, and for the last 17 years I have struggled to raise my daughters alone. I worked hard and still barely scraped by. My daughter suffered in the way that I could not afford extracurricular activities, dental work she, (we,) desperately needed, better nutrition, better housing in a better part of town, etc.You could consider me a "playa hater" but I am so frustrated I don't know what else to do. My daughter turned 18 yesterday, and she still has no car. She finished high school, taking the bus. I could have given her more, much more, if DES had only deemed 10% of my income on our DES application.
What is the best eulogy ever? I have to say I don't think you can beat Hunter S. Thompson on Nixon: Richard Nixon is gone now, and I am poorer for it. He was the real thing -- a political monster straight out of Grendel and a very dangerous enemy. He could shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time. He lied to his friends and betrayed the trust of his family. Not even Gerald Ford, the unhappy ex-president who pardoned Nixon and kept him out of prison, was immune to the evil fallout. Ford, who believes strongly in Heaven and Hell, has told more than one of his celebrity golf partners that "I know I will go to hell, because I pardoned Richard Nixon." I have had my own bloody relationship with Nixon for many years, but I am not worried about it landing me in hell with him. I have already been there with that bastard, and I am a better person for it. Nixon had the unique ability to make his enemies seem honorable, and we developed a keen sense of fraternity. Some of my best friends have hated Nixon all their lives. My mother hates Nixon, my son hates Nixon, I hate Nixon, and this hatred has brought us together. Nixon laughed when I told him this. "Don't worry," he said, "I, too, am a family man, and we feel the same way about you." It was Richard Nixon who got me into politics, and now that he's gone, I feel lonely. He was a giant in his way. As long as Nixon was politically alive -- and he was, all the way to the end -- we could always be sure of finding the enemy on the Low Road. There was no need to look anywhere else for the evil bastard. He had the fighting instincts of a badger trapped by hounds. The badger will roll over on its back and emit a smell of death, which confuses the dogs and lures them in for the traditional ripping and tearing action. But it is usually the badger who does the ripping and tearing. It is a beast that fights best on its back: rolling under the throat of the enemy and seizing it by the head with all four claws. That was Nixon's style -- and if you forgot, he would kill you as a lesson to the others. Badgers don't fight fair, bubba. That's why God made dachshunds. Nixon was a navy man, and he should have been buried at sea. Many of his friends were seagoing people: Bebe Rebozo, Robert Vesco, William F. Buckley Jr., and some of them wanted a full naval burial. These come in at least two styles, however, and Nixon's immediate family strongly opposed both of them. In the traditionalist style, the dead president's body would be wrapped and sewn loosely in canvas sailcloth and dumped off the stern of a frigate at least 100 miles off the coast and at least 1,000 miles south of San Diego, so the corpse could never wash up on American soil in any recognizable form. The family opted for cremation until they were advised of the potentially onerous implications of a strictly private, unwitnessed burning of the body of the man who was, after all, the President of the United States. Awkward questions might be raised, dark allusions to Hitler and Rasputin. People would be filing lawsuits to get their hands on the dental charts. Long court battles would be inevitable -- some with liberal cranks bitching about corpus delicti and habeas corpus and others with giant insurance companies trying not to pay off on his death benefits. Either way, an orgy of greed and duplicity was sure to follow any public hint that Nixon might have somehow faked his own death or been cryogenically transferred to fascist Chinese interests on the Central Asian Mainland. It would also play into the hands of those millions of self-stigmatized patriots like me who believe these things already. If the right people had been in charge of Nixon's funeral, his casket would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning. Even his funeral was illegal. He was queer in the deepest way. His body should have been burned in a trash bin. These are harsh words for a man only recently canonized by President Clinton and my old friend George McGovern -- but I have written worse things about Nixon, many times, and the record will show that I kicked him repeatedly long before he went down. I beat him like a mad dog with mange every time I got a chance, and I am proud of it. He was scum. Let there be no mistake in the history books about that. Richard Nixon was an evil man -- evil in a way that only those who believe in the physical reality of the Devil can understand it. He was utterly without ethics or morals or any bedrock sense of decency. Nobody trusted him -- except maybe the Stalinist Chinese, and honest historians will remember him mainly as a rat who kept scrambling to get back on the ship. It is fitting that Richard Nixon's final gesture to the American people was a clearly illegal series of 21 10 Ugh, finish the rest at http://www.theatlantic.com/unbound/graffiti/crook.htm Well worth the read.
Canadians, how does your healthcare stack up compared to the USA? Here in the USA, as I'm sure you've heard, we are weighing the pros and cons of Universal Health Insurance as proposed by Hillary Clinton. Some questions that Americans have for you: How much of your income do you pay in taxes and how much of that goes toward your healthcare? What is the longest you've had to wait for treatment? Are you happy with your system when it comes to healthcare? When was the last time you recieved a bill for a regular check-up or routine dental work? How much was that bill? What is the biggest medical problem facing your family and how are you dealing with it? If you can shed some light on these topics, I'm sure it will help us in our decision making! Thanks! I wish there were a way I could post this ONLY in Canada... unfortunately, the answers are tied to all English speaking countries.
Anyone ever heard of American Income Partners? I was offered this cause I was once in a Union. They said that this is insurance for Union employees. But I'm trying to find them on the net and I can't find anything except for Life Insurance. I was told by the rep that it was for health and dental along with life. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Americans Have It Backwards? Why is it that everyone here in the U.S. wants animals to have rights, but they deny human beings the right to free medical care based on citizen status. It makes no sense. Kill a dog you get life in prison. Kill a black human being maybe 2 years in jail. My sister is a U.S. citizen, but she can't get health insurance because my parents are out of work and she's a minor. Also my parents are legal immigrants to this country and do not qualitfy for benefits like free medical or dental. So my sister is left to fend for herself. How sick is that? Where have our human rights gone? I meant to say *qualify Wait a minute when did I bring race into this? I'm wondering as a U.S. where our Human Rights have gone. Why is it that a dog can get treated for a cold, but if a human being has no insurance their S.O.L.
So many questions....but I think you get the idea, please give good information give good details that we all can learn from. I am asking this question to get the truth out...not propaganda. blaming the whole thing on lawyers is extremely simplistic and really smacks of the propaganda I was hoping to avoid here. Can we get some good honnest analysis please... thanks midnight...good details thanks fish....way to go guys. Good factual answer Richard V thanks hillbillie. I have not seen Sicko yet. I plan to.
Universal health care. Common sense or communisim? Check with the Aussies.? Australia spends about 10% of GDP (60 billion USD) on health, private & public, with Medicare & Private Health Insurance Rebate Scheme. A two tiered payment system ensures a combination of ‘user pays’ with ‘tax payers pay’. USA spends 15% of GDP on health with no universal health. The Australian health pie is divided up: public hospitals = $20.4b (25%) (17.34 Billion USD) medical services = $13.0b (11.05b USD) pharmaceuticals = $10.9b (9.2b USD) private hospitals = $6.1b (5.1b USD) residential aged care & dental = $5.0b (4.25b USD) admin/research = $3.6 b AUD (6%) (3b USD) America is 15 X Australia's pop. (21 mill) and has similar demographics, lifestyle, age etc. Americans fork out 5% more on GDP to keep healthcare companies rich and ordinary Americans sick. Australian ‘outpatients’ see doctors privately and choose who they see. ‘Inpatients’ in public hospitals may see an appointed doctor but it is free. Reciprocal health agreements with other countries are also a benefit. That is so sad Ash. I had no idea you needed to work to cover health care and live in fear like this. I am Aussie and certainly try not take free healthcare for granted. I posted this message to stimulate debates amongst Americans who I feel deserve better healthcare. It is up to you guys now. I'm sorry you feel that way Michael B. Like I said, if I need heart surgery it is free and considered 'immediately medically necessary'. Yes people are on waiting lists for 'elective' surgery but no we don't send people to India for surgery like I have seen happening with America's case. Why would we bother when all our heart surgeons work in public hospitals anyway? Also Michael B...I remember meeting a doctor years ago in Australia who said he wanted to move to America to 'get rich quick'. If they think that way instead of providing good health care then we don't really want them in this country anyway. He was not a very nice person. I heard later on he did move there. Kudos to you.
How can we render medicaid useless? Attempted cut payments to medicaid doctors. Already no experienced doctor wants to work for free to cut payments to doctors is to have no medicaid at all. My daughter is continuously denied medical service. Born with severe challenges. Recently denied dental appointments and all because Medicaid does not pay the doctors and dentist. Since birth only medicaid will insure no other insurance will cover so please don't give your superior, condescending, Naivey get rich or a job only 10% of Americans are in a financial position to believe the have enough money to cover health care cash. The Congress stopped this new attack on Americans on Medicaid only for 18 months. Stopping the pay cut to medicaid doctors and in fact giving them a 1% raise. If I were a doctor I wouldn't want to deal with this either.
